The London trust will work with Epic, one of the biggest EPR providers in the US

[London, UK] University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) has announced it will start working with their EPR supplier, Epic, on the design and deployment of the system.

The organisation had previously revealed it was also planning on collaborating with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, another Global Digital Exemplar, and Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, two other Epic sites in the UK.

In a statement, UCLH’s Chief Executive, Professor Marcel Levi, said:

"After a detailed and extensive procurement process, we have now agreed the best way forward to continuously improve patient safety, improve interdisciplinary quality of care and make communication between patients and their health care providers easier.

“We will work with clinicians, operational staff and patients to ensure we create a system that works for everyone.”

Levi added the system will have interoperability at its core, allowing information sharing between different providers of health and care.

The trust is expected to go live with its Epic EPR in 2019, with a clinically led implementation process and further NHS Digital, NHS Improvement and NHS England collaboration.
