This autumn, HIMSS Europe will launch its new international conference, HIMSS IMPACT, in collaboration with the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam, just outside Berlin. Big Data in Medicine and its potential for healthcare will be the theme of the inaugural event, which runs 20-21 November 2017

POTSDAM, GERMANY – Big Data will become a healthcare game-changer and is likely to lead to a new era for the sector. Yet, while many positive benefits are expected of its use and implementation, a number of questions also arise.

Big Data – adding value for patients and healthcare providers?

HIMSS IMPACT will highlight the effects that Big Data will have on healthcare providers and hospitals, including faster and more effective diagnosis. Moreover, Big Data will enable the development of new therapies for chronic and life-threatening conditions in areas like oncology and cardiology to name a few.

Distinguished speakers will also discuss the many life-changing patient benefits, from personalised treatment options to a capacity for more preventative care, which will ultimately lead to improved health outcomes and a better quality of life.

What does Big Data mean for the other members of the healthcare ecosystem?

For healthcare systems, it allows the possibility to predict disease outbreaks and epidemics. Healthcare industry players such as healthcare IT providers, medtech or life science companies can expect insights on how Big Data will change their current business models and how they need to prepare.

Healthcare payers are expected to gain a clearer insight into possible future reimbursement models. Big Data opens up many treatment options – but what is both feasible from a health point of view and at the same time makes health economic sense?

Networking options for all healthcare stakeholders

HIMSS IMPACT offers an unrivalled opportunity for all members of the healthcare ecosystem – from clinicians to healthcare management – to gain insight into the potential of Big Data and to network and share best practice.
