BARCELONA, SPAIN- (HealthTech Wire / News) - HIMSS Europe and Health 2.0 are joining efforts to collocate the most influential digital health conference in Europe next year. In April, HIMSS’ acquisition of Health 2.0 Conferences was announced, and the two organisations have since come together to design a digital health event that will bring the best of both worlds: HIMSS Europe’s knowledge and expertise in healthcare digitisation and Health 2.0’s network of entrepreneurs and investors.

HIMSS Europe 2018 will be held on 27 – 29 May in the beautiful coastal Catalan town of Sitges, located just 25 minutes away from Barcelona. The conference will include sessions which will address the whole spectrum of the digital health ecosystem with the aim to reach key audiences in the sector: from hospital CEOs to innovative SMEs and start-ups, as well as CMOs, clinicians and nurses. Conference themes will include: digital transformation, cybersecurity, interoperability and data into knowledge.

HIMSS President and CEO, H. Stephen Lieber, said: “Digital health is no longer an exclusive concept for Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and health IT professionals. Doctors, nurses and influential decision makers alike need to be involved in the digitisation of healthcare as it is impacting the whole healthcare system and, by default, society in general.”

The Dutch Ministry of Health have confirmed their participation in the organisation of HIMSS Europe 18, and will be key contributors to the conference programme, as well as showcasing digital solutions with the rest of Europe. The Netherlands is known to be as one of the most digitally advanced countries in the EU, in particular when it comes to health and care. The input and knowledge which the Ministry will share at the conference is unmatchable.

Health 2.0 Conference Chair, Matthew Holt, said “As new health technology evolves, so does its impact, which is now crossing over previous divisions in health care. Bringing together the Health 2.0 community of innovators, patients, and health influencers with the more traditional provider organizations and vendors who tend to be HIMSS members will quickly advance solutions to health care issues in Europe and beyond.”

The event will include other satellite events such as the European Telemedicine Conference, and the collaboration with HIMSS-CHIME International will gather the highest level of hospital C-Suite level for an exclusive workshop. Networking and bringing like-minded professionals together will be a major focus during HIMSS Europe 18, and the conference will provide unique opportunities to connect the players in the field of health and care.

HIMSS Europe 2018 is expected to gather over 1,500 professionals in the healthcare sector, health IT and the digital health start-up ecosystem.  The event will feature exclusive speakers who can address and relate to some of hottest topics in digital health today. The event will also be a platform which will offer guidance and a roadmap based on future trends in health IT.
