LIEGE, BELGIUM - (HealthTech Wire / News) — The HIMSS Liège eHealth event will take place on 28-29 March 2017. Organised by HIMSS Europe in collaboration with the CHU of Liège, the University of Liège and with the support of several companies in the healthcare and IT sector, HIMSS Liège is “the Health IT event” for the Benelux region and the North of France and will bring together top European healthcare stakeholders.

The programme will be dedicated to the HIMSS Continuity of Care Maturity Model (CCMM), an eHealth implementation engine. The location in Liège was chosen as part of the 2017 events and festivities celebrating the 200th anniversary of the University and the 30th anniversary of the CHU of Liège.

Highlights include dynamic sessions in French, English and Dutch, an exclusive networking dinner, for participants to share their experiences in adopting eHealth, and a tour of the University Hospital of Liège. The University Hospital of Liège was recognised in November 2016, as an EMRAM 6 (Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model) academic hospital. EMRAM is the HIMSS international evaluation scale.

As Professor Philippe Kolh, CIO of the University Hospital of Liège and HIMSS board member indicated, “The Continuity of Care Maturity Model, the main theme of the HIMSS Liège conference, is of strategic importance to all healthcare stakeholders. The CCMM puts the patient in the centre and supports the development of telemedicine and the reduction of hospitalisations, thanks, amongst others, to the interoperability of the information systems.”

Christina Roosen, Vice-President of Public Affairs HIMSS Europe, added “It was very exciting to welcome and interact with the different European HIMSS communities at HIMSS17 in Orlando in February. And we now look forward to HIMSS Liège as the major HIMSS event focusing on national and European issues related to the digital transformation of key hospitals across the continent.”

With 30 speakers from across Europe and the United States, highlights of the programme include keynotes and panels on:

  • the Continuity of Care Maturity Model
  • the digital transformation of the, the Paris-based APHP which with 39 health facilities, is the largest European university hospital,
  • how digital transformation impacts remote care,
  • cross-border data exchange,
  • converging care delivery and hospital administration
  • best practices in integrated care delivery in Belgium, France, Spain, the United-Kingdom
